Ananké Asseff is a visual artist with a multidisciplinary approach. Her work includes photography, installation, sculpture, video and performance among others.

Asseff continuously seeks to recognize and expand limits, venturing into spaces of freedom and consciousness that she elaborates and manifests through her creative process.Guided by a deep interest in how we see, feel and live relate to each other, she establishes spaces that invite us to reflect on our own responsibility in both personal and collective construction and our relationship with our surroundings.

Their procedures always include concrete experience. This experiential dimension doesn't stem from a pre-established formal approach—she's an artist who isn't interested in repetition—but rather, language and materiality emerge from a specific discursive need. From this foundation, she builds a unique connection with the viewer, where her political and ethical investigations and critiques of representation seek a balance between high conceptual, emotional, and sensory content.

The artist considers that language does not represent reality, but instead constitutes it.
In the early stages of her career, she was recognized for her approach towards and questioning of personal and social constructs, interpreting fear and violence as characteristic and manifest signs of our time.

Following her retrospective exhibition which included over 60 works (2017), she decides to delve deeper into these questions departing from other philosophical spaces. Through a multiplicity of media and very few elements, her long and rigorous processes culminate in an aesthetic coherence that is recognisable beyond the subject matters or formats she chooses to work with.

From a spiritual conception, her work is born out of an intimate desire to express and materialise the transition between what is not visible and perceived from the senses, to what we understand as evident and real. The media she uses come together within the unified field of representation where the body (in an all-encompassing sense) becomes the instrument with which to intervene, communicate and create spaces that include both the political and the phenomenological.
Ananké approaches each of her projects like a ritual with the purpose of healing.
